Dr. Michael J. Ennis is a native North Carolinian with 27 years of clinical practice in the Fayetteville area. Dr. Ennis was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, and knows the greater Fayetteville community very well. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (1982). He then attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee (1986). He also participated in externships at the Carl Albert Hospital in Ada, OK, and then at Fort Bragg at the Womack Army Medical Center.
While Dr. Ennis conducts a family practice, he enjoys and has a special expertise with contact lenses. His other passion in optometry is giving patients glasses on the medical mission trips through Operation Renewed Hope Medical Missions Agency. Dr. Ennis is very fond of participating in these events and enjoys sharing the stories about patients he has treated on these trips who have never had glasses before. Once fitted with the right prescription, it is a beautiful sight to see those who can suddenly see and read their Bible, sometimes for the first time. They are instantly transformed before you!
Dr. Ennis arrived at this noble profession after much prayer and discussion with his own optometrist. He also consulted with his parents, an important influence in his life.
When not practicing eye care with his community members, you might find Dr. Ennis enjoying yard work, the outdoors, and music. He is an avid athlete and enjoys tennis and basketball. He is also a devoted church and choir member at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Dr. Ennis is blessed with his wife Jeanne, a daughter, Elisabeth, and two sons, Luke and Nathan. His family doubles in size when you count his three dogs, Ginger, Giselle, and Tiger.
